KSIF holds 2023 Meeting at KSI event - “Scholarships and Sponsorships”

Sharing future visions of KSI scholarship holders and forming relationships to maintain/expand sponsorships through mutual exchanges
The King Sejong Institute Foundation (hereinafter referred to as "KSIF") held its 2023 Meeting at KSI event, “Scholarships and Sponsorships,” at the Grand Hyatt Seoul on Thursday, November 9. On this day, 13 officials from companies and universities sponsoring KSI scholarships and 17 scholarship holders staying in Korea gathered together to support and encourage each other.
Institutions sponsoring KSI scholarships continue to support outstanding learners of KSIF for their language training and degree acquisition in Korea. Thanks to the support of such institutions, as many as 143 KSI learners came to Korea and received language training (72) and degrees (71). Through this event, KSIF expressed its gratitude to the institutions and provided a venue for them to meet the students and share their visions for the future.

The event was attended by officials from KB Card, Samyang Won-dong Cultural Foundation, Duksung Women’s University, Dongguk University, Sogang University, Seoul National University, Yeungnam University, and Hoseo University — and Nancy Castro, a former learner at KSI Korean Cultural Center, Mexico, and who is now a Gyeonggi minyo singer, supported the challenges and future of young learners of KSI by singing “Cheongchunga” and “Taepyeongga.” Lee Hai-young, President of KSIF, remarked, “I support the growth of KSI learners, from consumers of Hallyu, to producers, and to professionals.” She also expressed her gratitude to the companies and universities for being the stepping stones for this growth.

KSIF holds the King Sejong Institute Speech and Writing Contests every year through KSI locations around the world. Outstanding learners selected from the preliminary and final rounds of these contests receive opportunities to study language in Korean universities. In addition, outstanding students are selected from KSI locations around the world in the first and second half of each year and given opportunities to study in Korean universities. This year, 12 outstanding learners and 12 scholarship recipients of the first half of the year will receive scholarship opportunities to study at Korean universities and continue their studies at KSI.
