> Twenty members from KSIF ESG Volunteer Group carried out plogging volunteer work
On November 15, the King Sejong Institute Foundation (hereinafter referred to as "KSIF") ESG Volunteer Group carried out plogging volunteer work to improve local community environments. Plogging signifies an activity of picking up rubbish on the way while jogging. For this “Clean Our Village Plogging,” about 20 executives and employees walked on the streets for 1.5 km, starting from Seoul Nat’l Univ. of Education Station, nearby, to KSIF.
The ESG Volunteer Group is a volunteer group organized by executives and employees to protect the environment and improve the quality of life of vulnerable groups. The ESG Volunteer Group held an inauguration ceremony in September, and installed safety handles at elderly halls to prevent falls among the elderly as their first activity. The plogging, their second activity, was designed to clean up the environment of Seocho-gu, improve the aesthetics, raise awareness about environmental pollution among the staff, and build a sense of responsibility for the development of the local community. The cleaning up activities could be done more systematically as cleaning tools and standard garbage bags were supplied by Seocho Volunteer Center, a partner organization.
A member of the ESG Volunteer Group said, “I didn’t know there was so much trash on the street where I commute to work. I felt great that I was able to participate in improving the local environment through this plogging volunteer.” The KSIF ESG Volunteer Group will think about the roles and responsibilities of a public institute, and continue to strive to positively influence the environment and the society through various ESG activities.
