From May 25 to June 2, the King Sejong Institute Foundation(President Lee Hai-young, hereinafter referred to as
the KSIF) will conduct the ‘5th Sejong Korean Language Assessment(hereinafter referred to as the SKA)’ at 22
KSIs in 13 countries.
SKA evaluates the overall proficiency in Korean language communication in four areas: listening, reading,
writing, and speaking, targeting KSI graduates, learners, and prospective learners.
First conducted in September 2022, this year's SKA will be held on May 25(5th), August 24(6th), and October
26(7th) at 55 KSIs.
The ‘5th Sejong Korean Language Assessment(SKA)’ will be conducted at 22 KSIs in 13 countries across the
Americas, Asia, Africa, and Europe, where official assessment centers have been selected, and KSI graduates and
(prospective) learners are expected to take the test.

Reflecting the demand of foreign learners, the SKA is currently utilized for recruiting and selecting
outstanding foreign talents by domestic and international universities, and companies. Moreover, it is used for
admission requirements at domestic and international universities such as Yonsei University, Korea University,
Vanderbilt University in the USA, as well as for the selection of scholarship students at Korea National
University of Arts' AMA+ program, POSCO TJ Park Foundation scholarship students, and for verifying the Korean
language proficiency of local employees of the Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency (KOTRA). When asked about
their overall satisfaction with the 2nd to 4th SKA conducted in 2023, 77.5% responded that they were
'satisfied'. The intention to reapply for SKA remained high at 98.2%.
Detailed information such as the annual schedule of SKA, evaluation criteria by grade, evaluation guidelines,
and evaluation management regulations can be found on the 'Sejong Korean Language Assessment Portal
(ska.ksif.or.kr)'. Furthermore, through the SKA Portal, applicants can register for the evaluation, check their
scores, and receive score certificates. Prospective SKA candidates can experience SKA through the 'Learn about
Assessment' tutorial on the SKA Portal and directly solve example questions in the 'Practice Evaluation' section
to confirm the question types for each area.
