On September 21, in celebration of Chuseok, 50 learners from the KSI Quy Nhon and citizens of Quy Nhon
interested in Korean language and culture went on a picnic to a Korean traditional pavilion in the city.
Participants had a joyful time learning about Korean culture, with a Chuseok theme, at the beautiful Korean
pavilion located in Dong Da District, Quy Nhon City, Binh Dinh Province, Vietnam.

The participants learned that Korea’s Chuseok is a holiday with a similar meaning to Vietnam’s Mid-Autumn
Festival (Trung Thu), and they shared discussions about the cultural similarities between the two. The event
continued with conversations about the mooncakes eaten during Vietnam’s Mid-Autumn Festival and the songpyeon
traditionally eaten during Korea’s Chuseok. Attendees also shared and enjoyed songpyeon together. Dressed in
colorful and beautiful hanbok, participants took photos with the Korean traditional pavilion as a backdrop,
enjoying the experience as if they were traveling in Korea. Additionally, they took on a mission to promote KSI
Quy Nhon by posting photos taken with a Korean backdrop on social media.
Participants Sharing Songpyeon and Taking Commemorative Photos
During the sky lantern-making activity, participants wrote their wishes in Hangeul on lanterns made from hanji,
expressing hopes for health, happiness, love, and more. As they made the lanterns, participants showcased their
Hangeul skills and helped friends unfamiliar with the Korean alphabet by teaching them new words. It was a
heartwarming time as they shared their wishes with each other. After completing the lanterns, participants made
wishes towards the brightly glowing full moon.

Yoo Mi-kyung, a dispatched instructor, shared her thoughts, saying, “This cultural class was a meaningful event
for the citizens of Quy Nhon, who love Korea but rarely have the chance to experience Korean culture. It allowed
them to deeply feel the essence of Korea. We plan to continue offering various cultural classes, not only for
students but also for anyone interested in Korean culture, so that they can experience a wide range of Korean
cultural aspects.”
Nguyen Ha Que Chi, a learner from the Sejong Korean 1B class, expressed her gratitude, saying, “It felt
different and brought us closer as we went on an outing with our Korean teachers to a Korean architectural site
outdoors. I'm thankful to KSI Quy Nhon for providing this wonderful opportunity.”
Participants Completing a Mission to Promote KSI Quy Nhon
The KSI Quy Nhon is a collaborative KSI established as part of the sister-city relationship between Yongsan-gu,
Seoul, and Quy Nhon City, Binh Dinh Province, through KSIF. It promotes Korean language and culture in Vietnam.
The Korean traditional pavilion in Quy Nhon was also built in 2022 as part of a sister-city cultural exchange
program. KSI Quy Nhon plans to continue its efforts to promote the excellence of Hangeul and K-culture in the
local community through various collaborations with different institutions.
