The King Sejong Institute Foundation(hereafter referred to as the KSIF), in cooperation with the Hangeul Nuri
Foundation (Chairman Sohn Yeon-ho, hereafter referred to as Hangeul Nuri), has selected two students from the
KSI who are currently studying in Korean universities as ‘Hangeul Nuri Scholars’ and awarded them scholarships.
The recipients, originally from Vietnam and Uzbekistan, have entered the master's program in the Department of
Korean Language and Literature at Duksung Women's University and the undergraduate program in the Department of
Korean Language and Culture at Hoseo University, respectively, starting from the September semester.
A student from KSI Hanoi1, ‘Pham Ngoc Quynh Nhu (Korean name Ha Yoon, hereafter referred to as Quynh Nhu)’,
studied Korean for three years at KSI Hanoi1 and majored in Media and Communication at university. She dreams of
combining Korean language and culture to create engaging content and promoting Korea’s charm to the world, which
led her to pursue a master's degree in Korean Language and Literature at Duksung Women's University. Quynh Nhu,
who even chose her own Korean name out of her love for Korea, said, “I am honored and delighted to receive the
Hangeul Nuri Scholarship. I want to become someone who has a positive impact on society in the future, just as I
have received help.” Additionally, she expressed her dream of creating various Korean cultural experience
programs for foreigners and multicultural children in Korea and eventually establishing an educational volunteer
organization in Vietnam in the future.

Another scholarship recipient, ‘Rustamova Dildora’ from KSI Namangan, studied Korean for two years and became
interested in teaching while volunteering as an interpreter in the beginner class. With the scholarship support,
she has been admitted to the Department of Korean Language and Culture at Hoseo University. Dildora, who also
won second place in the ‘2024 KSI Namangan Korean Speaking Contest’, expressed her ambitions, stating, “I want
to study hard at Hoseo University and graduate with excellent grades, and in the future, I aspire to become an
outstanding Korean language education expert.” She added, “Receiving the Hangeul Nuri Scholarship has further
fueled my passion for learning Korean. I am grateful for the opportunity to pursue my dreams.”

KSIF has been selecting students from KSI as scholars and providing support for their studies in Korean
universities. While the students benefit from tuition support thanks to sponsorships from local universities,
some have hesitated or even given up on studying abroad due to the burden of living expenses. However, the
students who have been selected as Hangeul Nuri Scholars this time can now focus entirely on their studies
without worrying about living costs.
Meanwhile, the Hangeul Nuri Foundation, established in 2022 by Kyung Dong Navien, a leading boiler company, to
promote the development of Hangeul, continues to support the global spread of the Korean language. Its
initiatives include hosting events such as the ‘Hangeul Festa’ and ‘Dictation Contest’ for foreigners.
Lee Hai-young, President of KSIF, commented, “The Hangeul Nuri Scholarship is significant because it allows
students studying at our universities to concentrate solely on their academics.” She added, “We will continue to
attract more sponsors with shared values and expand our support as a reliable leader and partner for KSI
students.”
