KSIF Publishes the 2nd Edition
of the Learner Casebook ❬Dream❭

The King Sejong Institute Foundation(Acting President and Secretary General Bae Jong-min, hereafter referred to as KSIF) published the 2nd edition of the KSI Learner Casebook ❬Dream❭ on October 24. Following the inaugural edition last year, the 2nd edition is subtitled Records of Dreams Blossomed through Korean Language and Culture. It showcases the stories of 21 learners who discovered their career paths through the KSI, worked hard to achieve their dreams, or are steadily pursuing them. Each story highlights how KSI supported them and the positive role of the connections they made through the institute.
 

The ❬Dream❭ casebook is divided into three sections. Part 1 highlights stories of individuals who achieved their dreams by setting their career paths through the KSI. Part 2 presents examples of learners who expanded their professional fields by combining their expertise with Korean language skills. Part 3 showcases cases of learners using their Korean proficiency as a springboard to pursue their dreams.
 
 

Among the 21 learners featured in the Dream casebook, some particularly stand out. One example is Zhanybek Kyzy Begimai from the KSI Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan, who was appointed as a professor in the Korean Language Department at Kyrgyz National University after 10 years of studying at the KSI. Another noteworthy case is Paula Marinez Gual from the KSI Barcelona, who translated the Korean bestseller into Spanish, a story that gained prominence alongside novelist Han Kang’s recent Nobel Prize in Literature win, highlighting the importance of translating Korean literature.

KSIF plans to continue collecting and sharing diverse success stories to inspire and motivate foreign learners while raising awareness among Koreans about KSI’s pivotal role in spreading Korean language and culture abroad. By promoting these success stories, they aim to instill pride in the nation. Bae Jong-min, Secretary-General of KSIF, shared feedback from readers of the inaugural edition of the ❬Dream❭ casebook, who said, "It provided a deeper understanding of the significant role KSI plays. We hope to see many more success stories in the future." He expressed his hope that the second edition of ❬Dream❭ will reach a wider audience and share even more inspiring stories.
