KSIF provides class observation video
to be used for teaching practice
- Videos provided on both face-to-face and untact class formats
(demonstrated by a dispatched KSI instructor)
- Videos acknowledged by NIKL as fulfilling university-level
Korean language teaching practice
KSI teachers can now fulfill the teaching practice component through video content.
On June 10, the King Sejong Institute Foundation (KSIF, president: Kang Hyounhwa)
posted a demonstration class video that can be used by undergraduate and graduate
schools in lieu of having their students observe an actual Korean class.
“Korean language teaching practice” is a mandatory subject for those seeking Korean
language teaching certification who have taken classes on Korean language education
at the undergraduate or graduate level. The National Institute of Korean Language (NIKL)
also requires class observation in its “Guidelines on the Operation of Classes Regarding
Korean Language Teaching Practice.”
Viewing the videos (one of an offline class in a brick-and-mortar classroom and one of
an online class) will be counted as fulfilling the “Auditing” component.
Both videos were designed to satisfy the NIKL’s guidelines on class operation. The classes
featured in the videos were taught by dispatched teachers who have extensive experience
teaching at Korean and foreign educational institutions.
President Kang Hyounhwa said, “We believe that the video lectures will be of help to
the many domestic and overseas institutions that are having trouble offering teaching
practice due to COVID-19. We will continue to offer video content that displays the
outstanding quality of KSI teaching as referential material for relevant institutions.”
Korean language teaching practice is available to any KSI teacher who is a member of
Nuri-Sejong Hakdang. It can be accessed free of charge by logging into the Teachers page
training).
